Last night, after a great night at church, I came home and turned on my computer to see the score of the Baylor/Texas A&M game. We moved to Waco when I was 10. I was always a fan of UT and still am. However, the move to Waco put me around real live college sports for the first time. We had season tickets to Baylor Football games. I still remember leaving church on Wednesday Nights after service was over and heading to the Heart of Texas Coliseum to watch Baylor play. You could get in free after halftime. :) So, I am a fan of Baylor.
When I got home, Baylor and Texas A&M were in the first overtime. Baylor is ranked #25 in the AP poll and the Aggies are #18 in the same poll. The Aggies had a live video feed on the internet. So, I watched what I thought would be 10 seconds of the game at the end of the first OT. It turns out that I was glued to the computer screen for the next hour and a half as I watched the Bears win in 5 Overtime Periods.
This has to go down as one of the greatest college basketball games this year.

Happy MLK Jr. Day!
1. What a great day yesterday! We had another great crowd yesterday. Last night, there were a lot of teenagers there. They really responded to the altar time. After service, our student ministry, CSI:, had a lock-in. I counted over 25 students there.
2. I can't believe the Giants made the Super Bowl. I am wholeheartedly pulling for them to beat the cheaters....err I mean Patriots. I like Eli Manning and hope that he makes it back to back Championships for the Manning Brothers. It was a great game at the end of the season. I think the Giants can beat the Patriots. Will it happen? I don't know.
3. One of the kids in our church, Hank, drew me a picture yesterday. It was a picture of Tony Romo crying with Hank standing in the background laughing. When will the Dallas Playoff curse end? Hopefully, the Mavs won't choke this year or have to play the Warriors come playoff time.

Reflections on the last week...
1. We had great services every night. I really enjoyed the altar times. It appeared that many people were touched. We had three commit their lives to Christ on Wednesday Night. That's AWESOME!
2. I also was so proud of the Cornerstone Family. Our attendance was great every night. Thank you Cornerstone for making the sacrifice to come every night. Our Wednesday Crowd was really great!
3. I have heard of a couple of people who came for the revival and said that they would be back.
4. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for Mackenzie. She is doing better today. In fact, she is trying to help me type this blog. :) We kept her home from daycare for one more day. With the weekend coming, she should be ready to go Sunday. :)

It's Hump Day!
I had never heard Wednesday called "Hump Day" until I met my wife's family. Wednesday is the day that you get over the hump.....the rest of the week is down hill from there. So, Happy Wednesday!
Tonight is the final night of our Revival meetings with Ron Rhoads. He will be sharing his testimony tonight. You do not want to miss this!
One of my dreams as the Pastor of Cornerstone is to get to the place that we are helping plant five churches a year. We have started investing in our first church plant, Gateway Fellowship in Helotes, TX. The AG News did a great article about this church and it will be seen in the Easter edition of the Pentecostal Evangel. To read the article, click here. Their first service is February 10th. They had a preview service last weekend and had 87 in attendance.
I want to remind my blog readers about One Year Bible Challenge. It's still not too late to start reading today. :)

Another Great Service
Last night was another great service in our Revival Meetings. The Message was about having a destiny or a plan for your life. Ron built the message around the pregnancy of Mary. It was a very compelling message. I encourage you to get the CD.

The Facts of Life
You remember the old 80s Sitcom the Facts of Life. The opening line of the song went like this... "You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and then you have the Facts of Life." My day yesterday could be summed up by that phrase. :)
First, the good. We had an amazing day yesterday at Cornerstone. It is hard to believe that we have been here for 7 1/2 months. We had our biggest attendance day yet. 102 people were in attendance. It was the first time that we went over the century mark in attendance. Sasha is doing our Kid's ministry and they had 23 kids in their service. Sasha said that the kids really entered into worship yesterday. Ron and Heather Rhoads are with us in Revival Meetings this week. Both services were awesome yesterday with great times of worship, great preaching and great altar services.
Now, the bad. Last night, after service, Ron and Heather came over to the house to watch the second half of the Dallas Cowboys playoff game. I had recorded the game on our DVR. Suprisingly, no one had revealed the score to us. So, we watched as if the game were live except for being able to fast forward through commercials. I couldn't believe what I was watching. It was a nightmare of penaltys. The special teams were horrible. The defense and offense were not bad with the exception of the penaltys that kept giving the Giants chance after chance. In the end, the 'boys lost. With that, both of my Super Bowl picks (The Colts and The Cowboys) are gone from the playoffs.
The good far outweighed the bad. I'm so excited about what God is doing at Cornerstone. Be sure to come to Revival meetings Tonight through Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

Thursday Thoughts
1. Little Peyton is getting to come home from the hospital today. I'm so excited for Bobby, Jessica and the girls. He's doing great.
2. After going over our attendance figures, I discovered that we had our third highest attendance since we came to Cornerstone last Sunday. What a great way to start off the new year! I'm really excited about 2008 for our Cornerstone family.
3. This Sunday, we begin a series of meetings with evangelist Ron Rhoads. Ron is a gifted communicator and we will all be challenged by God during these meetings. Ron will be with us in our Sunday A.M. and P.M. Services. We will also have services Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Nights at 7:00 p.m.

Congrats to LSU
Being that we are living literally 10 miles from the Lousiana Border, we have a lot of LSU fans that attend our church.
I want to say a Big Congrats to LSU. I have followed Matt Flynn's career since he was the QB at Tyler Lee High School. I'm happy to see him go out with the National Championship.
I'm also happy to see Georgia's president propose a playoff system. Here's the basis for his system....8 teams seeded by a selection committee. The first 4 games would be the 4 Current BCS Bowls, then there would be games the following two Saturdays.
I am in favor of a playoff system. However, under the current system, LSU is the National Champ. While people may argue for USC or Georgia, bottom line is LSU won the National Championship.

First Blog of the New Year
Happy New Year (a few days late....)! 2008 is going to be a great year. Here are some great things that are happening:
1. Bobby Hearnsberger called yesterday afternoon with great news. They had removed the breathing tube from Peyton. The color of his skin had returned to normal. They had also moved him into another room and removed some of the other things that were attached to him. That was great news! Then, a couple of hours later, Debbie, Bobby's Mom, called me back and said that they had gotten the results back from an EKG that was done earlier in the day. The heart was squeezing like it is supposed to and everything was looking great. The doctors are anticipating letting him go home in a week. Praise the Lord!
2. We are moved into our house. I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to know that we are in a house. Our duplex was great, but it was just inadequate for our family. The girls are having a great time. We still have a lot of boxes to unpack. Thanks to everyone who helped us remodel and move!
3. CSI: Cornerstone Student Impact is our Student Ministry at the church. They had their bi-annual fireworks stand last week and made over $5,000. A portion of that will go to Speed The Light and the rest will go to their student ministry budget.
4. I spoke with Ron Rhoads yesterday. We are really excited about what God is going to do during our upcoming Revival with him. Please set aside January 13-16 to concentrate on your relationship with God. Ron is a dynamic communicator and you will be blessed and challenged by his ministry and testimony.
5. I've gotten great response on the One Year Bible Challenge. I personally am reading through the Bible twice. I'm reading everyday's reading twice. One time in the New Living Translation and once in the Message. I encourage you to start today. It's still not too late to catch up. :)
